Butterflies & Peregrines

Another warm day encouraged a Peregrine to soar over my garden at 9am then it was over to Long Itchington with Dave to catch up with Colin over a late breakfast before the three of us went to Stockton Cutting. More cloud than yesterday but we still managed a good haul of butterflies with Common Blue, Small Blue, 14 Dingy Skipper, 6 Brimstone, 3 Peacock, 6 Orange-tip, 3 Green-veined White, and Large White plus Pyrausta aurata, Treble-bar and Burnet Companion moths, 2 Four-spotted Chaser dragonflies, Grass Snake and Peregrine overhead as we left.

After a quick coffee break we moved on to Draycote Meadows and had at least 14 Small Copper to add to our day list but not much else on the wing except for plenty of Opsibotys fuscalis and a single Grass Rivulet while the Green-veined Orchids looked brill.
