Redpoll
My first opportunity to play catch up with Dave listening to
his sightings in Spain while we waited for the fog to lift. By the time we arrived
at the pond it was well and truly gone replaced by lovely sunshine before
clouding over and we caught up with Bob on toft bank and walked with him to
toft shallows. Long-tailed Duck out in centre, male Smew towards biggen bay and
Great-northern Diver off farborough spit. Toft Shallows had Water Rail in the
stream but it did not come out in to the shallows in the hour we hung around
there. At least 2 Chiffchaff, Goldcrest, 3 Bullfinch and 6 Long-tailed Tits
noted. Both Short-tailed and Bank Vole seen in the shallows though trying to
get pics was a nightmare as they don’t hang around. Raven heard and only 2
Snipe on show when we passed the scrape after 11 were seen earlier.
